Guide Dogs of America and Tender Loving Canines Assistance Dogs have recently merged the two service dog organizations into a single training school providing guide dogs for the visually impaired as well as service dogs for veterans suffering from PTSD, children with autism and facilities dogs. Puppies participate in guide dog training at the school; service dog training occurs within several different prison systems. After extensive training, the dogs help individuals regain their independence and improve their quality of life.
